Today was the first day of installation of For a Limited Time Only at the Art Center in Highland Park. My first mission was to make a room within the gallery with all the light blocked out, a tricky thing. I was lucky to have a lot of help, both on the mental and manual labor fronts, and now the room is almost ready to go. A quick trip to my studio to make double curtains (one curtain, no matter how good it is, lets light leak through) should finish the job, and then I’ll begin the days-long project of building and refining the structure. My vendor of the day to thank is Rose Brand, for making lightweight blackout fabric in a variety of colors with proof of its flame retardant status, and for shipping it promptly and carefully. New photos on Thursday night of what will be an ornate, trippy-looking installation, with tons of creepy bones.

It was energizing to come home from the gallery and discover that this piece was just featured on Nightwood’s blog. (Thank you!) Give their post a visit and then see the piece in person starting this Friday.
